It is understood that Sherlock has created an online ad for users, which focuses on the demographics and location of the target, and places an ad with built-in spyware on the advertising trading platform. Once the ad is placed on the target's web page, the spyware will be secretly installed on the target's phone or computer.

The Haaretz report found that it can infect Windows computers, Android phones and iPhone, and it is not yet possible to determine the full functions and limitations of Sherlock.
