So it must be bad if there is too much exposure and underexposure during shooting?

The above photo obviously has insufficient brightness, that is, underexposure, and there is also a large area of dead black in the picture, but this just matches the theme that the photo wants to express, and gives people a very reasonable feeling instead.

On the other hand, there is overexposure in this photo, and the highlight part almost completely overflows without any details, but this kind of overexposure is just suitable for the state of strong sunshine and sunny weather, and it also looks more natural, realistic and on the spot.

In addition, if the photo needs post-processing, then we also need to consider the rationality of exposure when shooting. For example, when taking high light ratio photos such as backlight, it is difficult for the sky to be overexposed in the later stage, but the underexposure of the ground can be made up for. Then we can choose to let the sky be exposed normally while shooting, while the ground scenery is underexposed.

If you choose post-stack synthesis, then this kind of overexposed and underexposed application is more common. First, take a picture of the ground scenery being normally exposed but the sky is overexposed, then take a picture of the sky normally exposed and the ground underexposed, and then synthesize it later. You get a picture with a better performance when both the sky and the ground are normally exposed. In the field of landscape photography, the application of this technique is more common.
