CTOnews.com, September 23 (Xinhua)-- thanks to the iPhone 15 series of models, Apple's iPhone's share of the Indian smartphone market will grow from 5% in the first half to 7% in the second half of the year, according to data shared by market research firm Counterpoint.

CTOnews.com checked Apple's Indian website and showed that pre-orders for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models began at 05:30 local time on September 15 and went on sale on September 22.

Counterpoint estimates that the supply of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will be tight in the early stages of the Indian market and will not be effectively alleviated until the end of October.

Counterpoint estimates that the two models will account for 25% of India's total iPhone 15 shipments in the fourth quarter, up 4% from the previous generation of high-end models.

"thanks to Apple's success, India's high-end smartphone market has risen sharply from 0.8 per cent of the total market in 2019 to 6.1 per cent in the first half of 2023," said Nabila Popal, research director at IDC, a market intelligence company.

Apple is the largest player in the smartphone market in India, which sells for more than $800, with a share of 67 per cent in the first half, according to IDC.
