CTOnews.com, September 23 (Xinhua) during the Google antitrust trial, John Jennandreya (John Giannandrea), a former Google executive who is now Apple's head of artificial intelligence / machine learning, testified that a change was introduced in iOS 17 that allows users to change their search engine choices in Safari trackless mode, according to Bloomberg.

Janandreya said in court on Monday that iOS 17 added a second search engine setting option that allows different search engines to be set in trace-free mode, which means it is easier for users to switch between Google or other search engines depending on the usage scenario. The difficulty of switching search engines has been fiercely questioned in antitrust lawsuits filed by the US government. The lawsuit accuses Google of illegally maintaining its monopoly in online search by signing contracts with web browsers and smartphone makers, including Apple.

Google said last week that users could easily switch search engines in "a few seconds". However, DuckDuckGo CEO Gabriel Weinberg testified that the change on Android requires at least 15 steps, and the whole process is very complicated.
