Yesterday, at the "2023 OSCAR Open Source Industry Conference" sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications, the self-developed native distributed database OceanBase of Ant Group won the "2023 OSCAR Peak Open Source Project" and "2023 OSCAR Pinnacle Open Source Enterprise (open source operation and ecological construction)" two awards. At the same time, complete the trusted open source community assessment and obtain the "trusted open source community" evaluation certificate.

OceanBase has been officially open source since June 1, 2021, completely opening up the core database kernel, distributed components and interface drivers of OceanBase, with a total of 3 million lines of code, including SQL engine, transaction engine and storage engine, supporting core technologies such as multiple copies and distributed transactions.

In addition to exposing the core code, OceanBase is gradually opening up ecological tools. In August of this year, ODC (OceanBase Developer Center), one of the four ecological tools of open source, was announced. As an enterprise-level collaborative database development tool, ODC provides efficient database development, management and collaborative solutions equivalent to enterprise application capabilities for application developers and database administrators.

At present, more than 400 enterprise users have successfully applied OceanBase Community Edition to their production systems. In terms of open source community activity, there are 256 active contributors to core code contributions around the world, with more than 30,000 community questions answered, and nearly 800 technology blogs sharing knowledge and experience.

Based on the open ecology of OceanBase, some database companies have launched new products around the OceanBase kernel. Ackerson, a well-known open source database solution company in China, is one of them.

Ackerson has launched ActionDB, a commercial release based on OceanBase open source kernel, which inherits the excellent features of OceanBase, including distributed architecture, strong consistency and high reliability, and optimizes and enhances security, ease of use, tools and other aspects to better meet the database needs of different industries and scenarios.
