FireBot is a remote-controlled robot that can withstand temperatures of up to 650 degrees Celsius. In such scorching temperatures, firefighters wearing protective clothing can only withstand about 15 minutes, while robots can work longer.

FireBot can run for up to four hours at a time and uses jagged "arms" to move around, somewhat like tank tracks, to climb stairs in burning buildings. The robot also uses MIMO wireless technology to transmit data to receivers up to 0.9 miles away.

In addition, the robot has built-in sensors, including high-definition optical and thermal imagers, as well as various devices to detect dangerous gases. It can also check carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide levels, effectively searching for and locating trapped people and nearby hazardous chemicals.

Despite its boxy appearance, the device runs fast. FireBot claims to move twice as fast as a firefighter wearing full personal protective equipment, which can weigh an average of 45 pounds.

The robot is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2024 and will cost at least $90,000. In addition, fire departments can also reduce costs through leasing.
