CTOnews.com, September 22 (Xinhua)-- according to a list published by the US Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has obtained an iPhone patent to install a "Touch Bar" on the side of the machine to display information such as power and support related interoperability.

CTOnews.com note: this patent was first filed in 2011 and approved in 2014. Apple applied for the patent again in April 2023 after the previous patent expired and was approved again recently.

The patent, entitled "Electronic device with sidewall display", describes an OLED or other flexible screen type on the side of the iPhone.

This solution is relatively easy to implement compared to Apple's previously submitted surround iPhone patent, with an Touch Bar on the side of the body that allows users to interact by touching sensitive parts or viewing the screen.

Interactive elements include media controls, display information, caller information and some system controls, and the screen also supports gestures to further enhance the interactive experience.
