This update will include new AI-driven Windows Copilot functionality, redesigned file explorer, new Ink Anywhere for stylus users, major improvements to drawing applications, native RAR and 7-zip file support, new volume mixer, and more.

Windows Copilot is the main feature of Windows 11 23H2 updates, bringing the same Bing chat capabilities directly to the Windows 11 desktop. It appears as a sidebar in Windows 11, allowing users to control settings on PC, launch applications, or get answers to questions. It is also integrated throughout the operating system, and Microsoft executives demonstrated how to use Copilot to write text messages using data in calendars, contents in Outlook, and so on.

In addition, this update will modernize the look and feel of File Explorer. The updated File Explorer user interface includes a modern home page interface with large file thumbnails and a broadcast interface that can display recent files and favorite files, these changes better integrate File Explorer into the overall design of Windows 11.

Microsoft has also added native RAR and 7-zip support to Windows 11 through this update. This means that users will be able to easily open tar, 7-zip, rar, gz and other files using the libarchive open source project built into Windows 11, and Microsoft plans to support the creation of these files next year.

The volume mixer being developed by Windows 11 the new Windows volume mixer will also be released with this update. The new volume mixer can be quickly accessed from the taskbar to switch audio output and control the volume of each application.

Stylus users will receive an important new feature called Ink Anywhere, which allows users to handwrite in any text box in Windows using a Surface stylus or other stylus, and the operating system converts the user's writing into text.

If the user is a PC gamer, Microsoft has added an interesting feature in this update: native RGB lighting control. This Windows 11 feature, called dynamic Lighting, uses the open HID LampArray standard to control RGB lighting. Acer, Asus, Hewlett-Packard, HyperX, Logitech, Thunder Snake and Twinkly have all partnered with Microsoft to develop dynamic lighting features that allow Windows applications to control the device and the "settings" portion of Windows 11. If you have a mouse, keyboard, monitor, chassis fan or anything else with controllable RGB lighting, Windows will be able to control RGB lighting without a third-party application.
