CTOnews.com, September 21, 2007-Microsoft has just announced the introduction of Copilot, a digital assistant based on generative artificial intelligence, to more software products. The new AI assistant, now called Microsoft Copilot in Windows, will be seamlessly available in all the most commonly used applications and experiences, including Windows 11 desktops, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Edge browsers and Bing.

With appropriate permissions, the new Copilot will be able to extract data from users' calendars, emails, documents, etc., to help users quickly draft text and emails, and it will make suggestions in real time in applications such as Outlook. It will also be able to obtain context from Bing Mobile and Edge on smartphones.

Microsoft also showed at the event how Copilot will be used in Windows 11 and other applications. For example, users who browse the web using Edge will be able to use Copilot for shopping comparisons and even get coupons. Copilot also allows users to write mathematical equations and help solve these problems using stylus and touchscreen devices. It can also help you write a quick text to someone based on the user's calendar and other information.

The updated Copilot will be unveiled on September 26 with 23H2 updates for Windows 11 and will be available on the desktop and can be launched quickly with Windows + C or right-click. Copilot will also appear in many default applications of Windows 11, including "photos" and "drawing".

Copilot in Windows allows users to control some desktop operations through voice or text commands, such as arranging windows, switching dark modes, launching specific Spotify playlists, and deleting photo backgrounds.

CTOnews.com noted that Microsoft also announced updates to the AI functionality in Bing Chat, Bing Image Creator, Microsoft Shopping (an Edge feature) and the release of Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft 365 Chat Enterprise Edition on November 1.
