CTOnews.com Sept. 21, on the 2023 Weilai Innovation and Technology Day this morning, Li Bin announced that Weilai's first self-developed chip, model NX6031, will be produced in October. It claims to be the industry's first self-developed lidar master chip, with the Chinese name "Yang Jing".

Li Bin said that the chip research and development team has 800 people, and said that "to make a chip can not be advanced for the sake of advanced, the cost is also a very important part, this chip can save us hundreds of pieces."

CTOnews.com learned from the press conference that the chip uses 8-core CPU, has 8 sampling channels, 9Bit sampling depth, and the sampling rate reaches 1GHz, which is known as "50% reduction in power consumption, 30% reduction in latency, and 8 million / s point cloud processing capacity per second".

Weilai said that by optimizing the point cloud processing delay, the "Yang Yan" chip achieves a faster functional response, with a point cloud processing capacity of 8m point per second, and can receive both raw data and point cloud data at the same time, providing a better closed-loop iteration of data for the whole system.

In addition, based on the strong processing power of the chip, AD defines richer point cloud features to further improve the accuracy and reliability of the perception system; effective ROI coverage of 120o horizontal and 9.6o vertical and 8-echo processing capabilities also enable AD to support more complex and even harsh driving scenarios.
