Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, September 21 (Xinhua)-- Apple officially released the iPhone 15 Pro model at its curiosity event in September, but to some users' regret, the Pro model does not integrate tactile volume and power buttons.
According to foreign technology media MacRumors, Apple has promoted the project with "Project Bongo" internally, and plans to redesign the volume and power buttons to bring a new interactive experience in terms of function and appearance.
Apple began using linear resonance actuators in its 2011 iPhone 4s, which greatly reduced the amount of noise generated and significantly improved response time.
Apple then introduced Taptic Engine in its 2015 iPhone 6s, which allows users to receive tactile feedback by re-pressing certain areas of the iPhone display.
For volume and power buttons, Project Bongo changes from traditional mechanical buttons to tactile buttons, detects pressure and simulates the pressing of physical buttons by using a vibrating tactile engine (tactile feedback).
Citing the media report, CTOnews.com attached a feedback mechanism for the Bongo project to press the tactile button:
There is a bending sensor under the button to measure the pressure applied to the button.
The strain gauge detects a change in pressure, converts it into a change in resistance, and accurately measures the change.
Send a signal to the main logic board indicating that the button is pressed.
The main logic board issues power supply instructions to the Bongo tactile engine.
Bongo tactile engine vibrates through electromagnetic fields.
Tactile feedback is then generated by vibration, and the slight upward movement toward the finger mimics the feeling of the physical button being pressed.
The module has two strain gauges, one on each side of the button. The strain gauge detects the change in pressure and converts it into a change in resistance in the circuit. A change in resistance leads to a change in voltage, and the potential difference between the two strain gauges is used to determine the location of the pressure origin (volume increases or decreases).
In order to promote the Bongo project, Apple developed the "Bongo Haptic Engine", which is an electromagnetically driven reluctance motor. Reluctance motor is a kind of advanced motor commonly used in the field of microelectronics.
By using reluctance motors, Apple can achieve faster vibration speed and faster response time than traditional vibrating motors. The Bongo tactile engine is designed to provide more nuanced vibration feedback and a better user experience.
The Bongo tactile engine consists of a ferromagnetic core and a copper coil, which together form a solenoid. The tactile engine vibrates by oscillating relative to the suction plate directly below it.
