CTOnews.com, September 20, Microsoft today issued an announcement to Exchange Online users, announcing that it will stop responding to users' Exchange Web Services requests on October 1, 2026, and recommend switching to Microsoft Graph.

CTOnews.com note: Microsoft announced in 2018 that it would no longer provide functional updates for EWS services in Exchange Online, and according to today's announcement, it will further promote the transition of Exchange Online in the next 3 years.

Microsoft said that this EWS retirement announcement only applies to Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online (all environments), but has no impact on EWS on Exchange Server.

In addition, changes in Exchange Online do not affect Outlook for Windows or Mac, Teams, or any other Microsoft product.

Microsoft says it will continue to release EWS component security updates for Exchange Online users until October 2026.
