Media measurement shows that ProRes video on Apple's iPhone 15 Pro model can be directly recorded to external storage.

CTOnews.com September 20 news, according to the Japanese media macotakara recently measured, Apple iPhone 15 Pro model ProRes video can indeed be recorded directly to external storage.

Users can select "4K / 60fps" in "Settings" > "camera" > "Video recording", and open Apple ProRes in "Settings" > "camera" > "format". By default, you can shoot 4K / 30fps ProRes video, and when you connect an external storage device through USB-C, you can shoot 4K / 60fps ProRes.

IPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will get an error message if they choose to record 4K / 60fps ProRes video after connecting a regular storage device.

CTOnews.com note: external storage devices that connect iPhone 15 Pro to iPhone 15 Pro Max must have only 1 partition.

If recording other videos, the supported formats are APFS, APFS (encryption), macOS extension (HFS+), exFAT (FAT64), FAT32, but for 4K / 60fps ProRes shooting, the external storage format must be formatted as exFAT or APFS.
