Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, September 20 (Xinhua)-- maintenance website iFixit issued a press release today, saying that due to Apple's increasingly stringent post-repair parts matching requirements, the iPhone 14's maintainability score was lowered from 7 to 4.

After purchasing parts from Apple's self-service store, users must enter the serial number or IMEI of the device and require that the parts ordered after installation need to be matched with other parts in the device in order to work properly. IFixit believes that this model has affected the business model of many independent maintenance stores.

IFixit initially praised Apple for its internal redesign of the iPhone 14 model with a more maintainable middle frame, which was extended to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models this year, and the team recently decided to modify the score based on feedback from the maintenance community.

CTOnews.com translates parts of Kyle Wiens, CEO of iFixit, as follows:

We gave the iPhone 14 a very good score last year because of its innovative maintenance-friendly architecture. However, most iPhone maintenance requires Apple's approval, and you have to buy parts through their system and then verify the maintenance through the chat system. Otherwise, some of the functions of the phone are limited, accompanied by annoying warnings.
