Now, the company has begun to work with researchers from the University of Michigan's Sports and Sports Science Program (ESSI) to improve the accuracy of these functions.

The study, which will be led by ESSI's core research laboratory, the Michigan performance Research Laboratory (MiPR), has begun recruiting participants and collecting data. The study will last eight months.

According to CTOnews.com, the tests will be conducted indoors (on a treadmill) and outdoors, running between 2.5km and 20km, and data will be collected through cardiopulmonary exercise tests (CPET) and tracking weight changes.

As the name suggests, the sweating function on Samsung Galaxy watches estimates how much water users lose and recommends how much water to drink to help users recover after running, with the goal of making the watch better manage perspiration, dehydration and calories.
