CTOnews.com Sept. 19, Microsoft and Sony's current generation of game consoles will be launched in 2020, and Sony's PS5 sales far outsell Microsoft's Xbox, so Microsoft is trying to take the lead in game services, such as Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft executives are expected to launch the next generation of Xbox consoles in 2028 and are considering a more flexible strategy for their gaming hardware, a document released in a lawsuit against FTC confirmed.

According to the document, Xbox executives mentioned the 2028 release plan at a meeting in May 2022, which was attended by more than 10 Microsoft executives, including CEO Satya Satya Nadella, CFO Amy Hood and game director Phil Spencer.

In fact, on the first day of Microsoft's court lawsuit with the Federal Trade Commission over the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft admitted that "Xbox has lost the mainframe war, and competitors are expected to continue to dominate the market."
