CTOnews.com, September 19 (Xinhua)-- General Motors is actively recruiting Apple executives, including former and current jobs, after GM officials announced that they no longer support Apple's CarPlay, according to foreign technology media 9to5Mac.

Sources say the first "general" GM recruited was David Richardson, a former head of Apple Pay and iCloud and a software and services executive after joining GM.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that David Richardson worked at Apple for 12 years before he was hired by General Motors, leaving his previous position as director of engineering for Apple's cloud infrastructure, supporting Apple services such as iCloud, FaceTime and Siri.

GM also hired Baris Cetinok, who had worked at Apple for nine years before leaving the company in 2021. During his time at Apple, Cetinok served as senior director of product management and marketing for iCloud, Apple Pay and other digital services.

Both new employees report to Mike Abbott, GM's senior vice president for software and services. Abbott was also the executive who left Apple earlier this year to join GM, and Abbott reports directly to GM CEO Marry Barra.
