CTOnews.com, Sept. 18, a new analyst report shows that bookings for the iPhone 15 series are significantly higher than those for the iPhone 14 series last year. Wedbush, an investment bank, says bookings for the iPhone 15 series have increased by about 10-12 per cent this year compared with the same period last year.

Although only Apple knows the real sales figures, analysts and market intelligence companies use a variety of methods to estimate. One common way is to recruit some consumers and pay them a small fee to allow the company to scan their purchase receipts. That's what Wedbush does, and its analysis shows that bookings for the iPhone 15 series have increased by at least 10% compared with the same period last year. Moreover, high-end models perform better.

The company said most of the bookings were iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max, with Pro Max performing particularly strongly in the United States, China, India and parts of Europe. This is a clear boon for Apple, as the average selling price (ASP) will be a major boost for Apple in this iPhone 15 cycle. The company expects the ASP to be around $925, about $100 higher than in the past 12-15 months because of the increase in the proportion of Pro models.

Unit sales are important, of course, but the average selling price can also have a big impact on Apple's profits. Even if sales are the same, the more people buy high-end models, the more money Apple will make. CTOnews.com noted that the current shipping / delivery time for iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max has been delayed to late October to early November, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max appears to be the most eye-catching product in this cycle.

Wedbush says orders from India look particularly strong as the middle class in the emerging economy continues to grow and China is doing well. Wedbush believes that Apple's market share in China will continue to grow steadily during the iPhone 15 cycle.

Analyst Daniel Ives said that due to the extension of the iPhone upgrade cycle to four years, as many as 250 million iPhone users around the world are in the window to buy a new iPhone 15.
