CTOnews.com, Sept. 18, shortly after the Steam Deck price cut, Asustek has now launched a cheaper ROG Ally handset with AMD Phoenix APU, which has lower performance than the previous Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU, but the price is also $100 lower at $599 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 4367 yuan).

The new, cheaper ROG Ally handset is the RC71L-Z1512, with a Ryzen Z1 processor, a 6-core Zen4 / Zen4c APU and four RDNA3 computing units. The performance of GPU is significantly lower than that of 8-core Zen4 and 12 CU RDNA3 Ryzen Z1 Extreme. The new phone is also equipped with 512GB storage space, and there is no news about the 256GB or 1TB models.

The ROG Ally handset features a 7-inch 120Hz display with a resolution of 1080p and supports AMD FreeSync Premium as well as FSR (FidelityFX) and RSR (Radeon) super-resolution technologies. Equipped with 16GB LPDDR5-6400 memory, cannot be manually upgraded.

Similar to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme version, the Z1 version of the ROG Ally handset also supports the expansion of the XG Mobile external graphics card, which can be connected to the external graphics card provided by Asustek through a dedicated interface, but the price of the external video card is more expensive than the game console itself.

The Z1 chip version of the Asustek ROG Ally handset can now be purchased from BestBuy and Asustek official stores in the United States, while the Bank of China only has the Z1 Extreme version, which starts at 4999 yuan.
