On September 14, 2023, Acer released its 2022 Sustainability Report, explaining the company's strategies, actions and achievements in sustainable development management. In addition, since the fourth quarter of 2022, in order to further reduce carbon emissions generated during the transportation of products worldwide, Acer has partnered with logistics provider Kuehne+Nagel to adopt biofuel solutions to reduce carbon emissions generated by transporting standard marine containers.

International maritime transport currently accounts for about 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions, while sustainable marine fuels (e.g. biofuels) have a lower carbon footprint than petroleum fuels. In addition, biofuels derived entirely from biomass have been found to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 67 to 93 per cent over their life cycle compared to heavy fuel oil, which is mainly used by ships. Acer will assist in decarbonizing the marine industry with practical measures, consistent with the goal of the International Maritime Organization's greenhouse gas emissions strategy, using zero or near-zero greenhouse gas emitting technologies, fuels and/or energy, which is expected to account for 5-10% of international maritime energy by 2030.

Net zero emissions by 2050

Acer is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 from three aspects: operations, products and services, and value chain; Acer is on track to use 20 to 30% of post-consumer recycled plastics (PCRs) in computers and displays by 2025, with 17% usage by 2022; Acer Group uses 100% renewable energy by 2035, and has reached 44% so far. In addition, Acer Future series products use recycled plastic, recyclable packaging and marine waste recycled plastic, and its product line has now expanded to desktop computers, monitors, PCs, all-in-ones, Chromebooks and peripheral accessories. Acer Future Series products offer consumers, businesses and organizations more options to reduce their carbon footprint, joining Acer's circular economy initiative.
