Shen Zhiqiang, director of Shanghai Observatory, said that Xigaze has unique astronomical observation conditions and superior geographical location, and has broad prospects for development. Shanghai Observatory will strive for more advanced observation equipment to land in Xigaze, open up a new look of Xigaze astronomical characteristics, and continue to strengthen all-round cooperation with Xigaze in the fields of talent, science and technology, education and science popularization while serving national demand and the forefront of science and technology. Establish a long-term mechanism to jointly write a new chapter of win-win cooperation and joint development.

Academician Ye Shuhua of the Shanghai Observatory said it is believed that the Xigaze 40m radio telescope will play an important role in lunar exploration and deep space exploration missions such as asteroids, Mars and Jupiter.

Wu Yanhua, chief designer of the major deep space exploration project, revealed that in the field of lunar exploration, the state has planned four phases of lunar exploration projects, including four missions: Chang'e 4, Chang'e 6, Chang'e 7 and Chang'e 8; the demonstration of the scheme of the International Lunar Research Station is being carried out in an effort to build the first major international scientific project initiated and led by China. Key technologies of the lunar integrated constellation system are being launched to serve lunar exploration and future deep space exploration.

In terms of deep space exploration, the state has planned planetary exploration projects, including the first Mars exploration mission of Tianmen-1, the sampling and return mission of asteroid No. 2, and the Mars sampling and return mission of Tianmen-3. The planetary system and interplanetary crossing exploration missions are being carried out at the same time, and the planning and demonstration of exploration missions for other celestial bodies in the solar system are being carried out; in addition, China will also carry out a near-Earth asteroid defense demonstration and verification project mission.
