CTOnews.com news on September 18, the National Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Finance today released the "2022 National Statistical Bulletin on Science and Technology Investment" (CTOnews.com hereinafter referred to as the "Bulletin").

According to the Communique, in 2022, a total of 3.07829 trillion yuan was invested in research and experimental development (R & D), an increase of 282.66 billion yuan or 10.1% over the previous year; the intensity of investment in R & D (ratio of research and experimental development to GDP) was 2.54%, an increase of 0.11% over the previous year.

If calculated on the basis of the full-time workload of R & D personnel, the per capita expenditure in China is 484000 yuan, a decrease of 5000 yuan over the previous year.

According to the main body of activities, the funding for research and experimental development of various enterprises was 2.38786 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.0 percent over the previous year, 381.44 billion yuan for government-owned research institutions, an increase of 2.6 percent, 241.24 billion yuan for institutions of higher learning, an increase of 10.6 percent, and 67.75 billion yuan for other main bodies, an increase of 22.3 percent. The proportion of funds for enterprises, government-owned research institutions and colleges and universities is 77.6%, 12.4% and 7.8%, respectively.

According to the industrial sector, the expenditure on high-tech manufacturing research and experimental development (R & D) is 650.77 billion yuan, and the input intensity (the ratio of investment to operating income) is 2.91%, an increase of 0.20 percentage points over the previous year.

In addition, among the industrial enterprises above scale in 2022, there were seven major industries in which the expenditure on research and experimental development (R & D) exceeded 100 billion yuan, an increase of two over the previous year, and the funds of these seven industries accounted for 63.2% of the R & D funds of all industrial enterprises above scale.
