Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com Sept. 18, a number of companies are forcing employees to return to the studio, CTOnews.com has repeatedly reported that although these companies require employees to "return", employees are more likely to change jobs.
Recently, Ubisoft Montreal Studio, a well-known studio in the industry, has also asked employees to "return to the office", and some developers have chosen to leave, according to IGN.
▲ Touyuan IGN, according to a social media account by a former Ubisoft employee, Ubisoft's leadership in Montreal met with team managers and insisted that all employees "work at least two days a week" from September 11 onwards. The only flexible policy is an eight-week special case that allows employees to provide "proof" that they need time to adapt to the new policy.
Employees in Ubisoft Montreal gave basically negative feedback on the decision, which was seen as a violation of the company's previous promise of "100% teleworking".
▲ source IGN, IGN contacted Ubisoft for comment on the story and received the following response from Ubisoft:
Like many entertainment and technology companies, we require our colleagues to return to the office at a critical moment determined by each team. We believe that synergies, face-to-face discussions, rapid iterations, and a more face-to-face sense of belonging will help us work together to improve efficiency and agility and achieve our business goals.
The mixed office model was first announced in early June and will be implemented on September 11 this year, and we will accompany our colleagues to make these changes so that they can adapt to greater flexibility in the next eight weeks or more. In addition to a wide range of individual accommodation and arrangements, an open and ongoing dialogue is under way to mitigate this transition and its impact on the well-being of everyone, which remains a top priority for us to continue to provide excellent games.
Activision Blizzard has previously adopted a similar policy of forced return to the office, resulting in a large number of employees leaving, which is bad for game development, and Ubisoft's move may also affect some of its new work development.
