CTOnews.com Sept. 17, Microsoft Edge browser version 117 is now available in stable channels, bringing new features and experiences, such as Microsoft Edge for Business for unmanaged devices, new favorites recovery features, auto-fill enhancements, and so on.

In addition, Edge 117 has abandoned a number of tools to simplify the use of browsers, including math solvers, picture dictionaries, citations, grammar tools and children's mode have been discontinued. Although they can still be used, Microsoft may remove these deprecated features in future updates.

App Protection Conditional Access enters the public preview channel

If your tenant conditional access (CA) policy, which is for "all cloud applications", covers "mobile applications and desktop clients", and requires compliant devices, application protection policies, or have "block" grant controls, your end users will not be able to register for MAM. Changes that support this feature are for Microsoft Edge v118.

If you want to continue testing / evaluating App CA, you can choose to exclude the "Edge Auth" application from the cloud application location. Some Microsoft Edge functions may not work properly until CA is satisfied, but MAM registration will be completed.

Function update: Microsoft Edge commercial banner. Administrators can use PromotionalTabsEnabled policies to control the availability of Microsoft Edge for Business banners within the product.

Microsoft Edge synchronizes favorites recovery. The Microsoft Edge Sync favorites recovery feature allows sync users to recover any favorites that have been lost or deleted in the past 14 days. Users can access this feature from the Microsoft Edge favorites Center or the edge://favorites page. For more information, see recover lost or deleted favorites in Microsoft Edge-Microsoft support

Automatic filling is completed automatically. This feature helps you fill out form fields faster on the network. When you start typing in a form field, Microsoft Edge will suggest possible inline completion if it exactly matches the data saved in the browser. For example, if you type the first few characters of the address, autocomplete will suggest the rest of the address-you can choose to autocomplete the suggestion or continue typing as usual. Auto-fill options can be found in edge://settings/ personalinfo.

Discard Web Select. To improve the end-user experience, this feature has been deprecated and will no longer be an option under Web Capture or via keyboard shortcuts.

Deprecate the function. To improve the end-user experience and simplify the more tools menu, the following features have been deprecated: math solvers, picture dictionaries, citations, grammar tools, and children's mode.

Edge browser version 117 is available for Windows 10 and 11, macOS and Linux.
