Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen soft media user 1520111, digital whale clue delivery! CTOnews.com Google co-founder Sergey Brin and his wife Nicole Shanahan quietly divorced in May after Shanahan was accused of having an affair with Brin's longtime friend Elon Musk, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Court records obtained by Insider show the judge signed the divorce decree on May 26.

Brin filed for divorce in January 2022, citing "irreconcilable differences" after three years of marriage. The Wall Street Journal reported last year that the two met during a yoga retreat in 2015.

Court documents show Shanahan and Brin married on Nov. 11, 2018. About two weeks later, their daughter was born.

Under the divorce settlement, Shanahan and Brin will split legal and physical custody of their four-year-old daughter. Issues including alimony, attorney fees and division of property have been settled in confidential arbitration, a clause in their prenuptial agreement. Divorce documents also show that the parties agreed to "non-directive" child support, but the exact amount was kept secret.

Shanahan is a lawyer and founder of the nonprofit Bia-Echo Foundation. She did not object to the divorce, but asked the court to award her spousal support.

People familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal that the trigger for the divorce was allegations of an extramarital affair between Shanahan and Musk, a longtime friend of Brin. Musk once recalled that Brin and Larry Page, another Google co-founder, decided to invest in Tesla during its early difficulties.

Musk once tweeted (now renamed X) that the Wall Street Journal article in 2022 was "complete nonsense." He wrote on July 24, 2022:"Sergei and I are friends and we went to a party together last night. I've only seen Nicole twice in three years, and each time there were lots of other people present, no romantic relationships. "

Shanahan also denied that she had an affair with Musk, saying the scandal "completely disempowered me." Brin had wanted the divorce proceedings to be confidential.
