CTOnews.com, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) Last fall, Meta launched its much-anticipated high-end VR head display Meta Quest Pro, a stylish device that initially sold for as much as $1500 (CTOnews.com Note: about 10920 yuan), but has struggled to gain market recognition since its launch.

According to Mixed Reality News, Meta is even willing to give away the device for free: everyone who attends this year's developer conference on global gaming platform Roblox gets a free Meta Quest Pro. Although it is not clear how many people participated in the event, it is clear that the device is not popular with consumers.

Meta told suppliers earlier this year that it would not order new parts for the device, which means that production of the equipment will end after the existing parts are used up. To save the situation, Meta even slashed the price of the device to $999 (currently about 7273 yuan) in March.

In addition, the Quest 3, which goes on sale next month, may also dampen consumer interest in Quest Pro.

It is worth mentioning that Quest Pro did not appear in SteamVR's hardware statistics until the beginning of this month, and according to Mixed, the utilization rate of Quest Pro is only a pitiful 0.39%.

Right now, everyone is watching Apple. The tech giant has always liked to wait for the right time before entering new markets, but whether its $3999 Vision Pro (currently about 29113 yuan) will do better than Quest Pro remains to be seen.
