CTOnews.com, Sept. 17 (Xinhua)-- Netflix won the right to adapt "one hundred years of Solitude" as early as 2019 and will produce an original series in Spanish based on the novel.

Netflix has released a pilot trailer for the series "one hundred years of Solitude", but the premiere date has not been disclosed yet.

CTOnews.com learned from the Latin American Post that on October 21, 2022, Francisco Ramos, vice president of Latin American content at Netflix, revealed that recording of the show was about to begin. On April 26 this year, the official cast was leaked, directed by Argentine director Alex Garcia Lopez.

First published in 1967, hundred years of Solitude has sold an estimated 5000 million copies around the world and has been translated into 46 languages. The author, Garcia M á rquez, who won the Nobel Prize for literature, died in 2014 at the age of 87.

The story tells the rise and fall changes and legends of the Magondo town and the Buendiya family, recording the family fate and a hundred years of history, recounting the same and absurd fate repeatedly, and epitomizing the fate of Latin American countries for hundreds of years. It is a unique metaphor for the establishment, development and end of human "civilization" history, and interprets the fatalistic reincarnation in desolation, loss and absurdity. The names of the characters in the family are the same or similar, which indicates that they have the lonely fate of going the same way. "A hundred years of Solitude" begins with Boondiya being tied to a tree and ends when he is eaten by ants. Through exquisite and rich strokes, bold and free imagination and magical narrative art, it tells the fate and history of the Buendiya family, depicts the lonely soul and self-redemption of the characters, and then reflects the compassion and loneliness of individuals, families and all mankind, making people rethink the development of the times and the changes of human nature.
