The eagle is mainly responsible for detecting the main enemies, targets and treasure boxes, while the Assassin's senses are still the standard perspective skills in the stealth game, making it easy for players to clean up the enemy camp without saying a word.
It may be that the eagle partners who joined the "mythological trilogy" have received rave reviews, and this element has been retained ever since, even parkour and rock climbing, and "Phantom" has been compared to restore the treatment. Veteran players will remember that the earliest climbing and parkour were not as free as the later "mythological trilogy" and had to find protuberances and grips. And the level we encountered in the trial is also similar to that in the early works, which is no longer so outrageous that "everything can climb".
Of course, players who prefer the front can still choose to play in favor of combat, and there is a long combat tutorial similar to the mainstream action RPG in the trial. At the same time, combat and stealth skills can be optimized through acquired skill points, such as chain assassination, automatic search, and so on.
However, due to the limited trial time, character growth is also limited. At least in part of our experience, head-on combat, especially one-to-many combat, puts players at a considerable disadvantage. for the time being, we have not acquired all kinds of unparalleled or superdivine skills like the Myth Trilogy (which may be gradually unlocked at a later stage). And, for now, the character's skill tree is simplified compared to the Myth Trilogy. Most of the time, players still need to plan their battles according to local conditions. In addition to sneaking, the site is also full of cups, suspended stones and other traps that can be used, and the flying knives, smoke bombs, and spices that will confuse the enemy can be flexibly used, which can be regarded as providing a variety of solutions for combat.
Even if you play an assassin, although the positive face is not fully reflected in the trial version, "Phantom" also has equipment upgrades and appearance systems, and after completing important tasks, you can also get an amulet corresponding to the rank of the assassin. it's also beautifully designed, which is good for players who like to collect explorations. The good news is that, at least in the city, the transmission points seem to have become denser, making it easier to run and collect, and the feeder line is not marked with question marks on the map, but randomly triggered when walking on the road. From this point of view, the open world experience of "Phantom" may be more compact and balanced.
The most satisfying changes in the investigation into "Phantom" are the addition of a lot of investigation missions to the target of assassination and the encouragement of players to approach the target in a variety of ways. Similar mechanisms have been found in Assassin's Creed: the Great Revolution and Assassin's Creed: the Hall of Souls, but Phantom seems to have perfected the entire chain of tasks.
After all, the assassination target wall used in the Myth Trilogy is actually more or less aesthetically tiring. Because this form is relatively rigid, after the completion of the main line, and then one by one to kill the rest of the goal, always give people a kind of "brush" feeling, many regional targets do not have too much plot to speak of.
On the other hand, the mission design of "Phantom" and the way of revealing its main objectives are more in line with an assassin's style of "investigating first and then doing it". In the free mission provided by this trial, players must first find out who the assassination target is in various ways. This involves a series of pre-missions and stealth investigations, which may mean collecting items in a regulatory scenario, or easily assassinating some regional targets. According to the clues obtained, the player and the protagonist will be guided to the formal mission scene to find out the location of the main target and divide it quickly.
Before finding out the real main line target, there will be a series of investigation process, in which the game provides a variety of ways to get close to the task goal. Players can bribe NPC with important items, eavesdrop on other people's conversations, or complete NPC regional tasks in exchange for intelligence, and so on. What is worth mentioning is bribery. We found that there is a whole set of in-game currency system in "Phantom". In addition to general money, there are also some currencies that can only be used by special camps. For example, certain businessmen only accept things like chamber of commerce tokens. This should add more collection elements to the official version of the game.
Because there is not much time left for collection in the trial, our protagonist does not have much energy and opportunity to collect, and has been very poor, unable to go to the target location in the most convenient form of bribery. But there are other ways to have fun, at least walking around the mission site. Continuing the long-standing advantages of the Assassin's Creed, Phantom is unequivocal in depicting the scenes in the streets. For example, the freedom task in the trial is carried out around a large bazaar, which is crowded, and guests and businessmen are busy with their own transactions. The merchandise details and exquisite carving patterns in various buildings and shops are all beautifully made. As for the palace buildings that pass by in a flash, they are full of splendor and restoration, which can be said to be based on local conditions and customs.
Exquisite city portrayal, with a series of consistent smooth parkour movements, players can look forward to the game "cloud travel" again.
Perhaps one of the most satisfying moments in the series is to synchronize the bird's eye view point on the map and return to the origin in the game story, which combines the historical landscape with the cultural landscape, which has always been the strength of the Assassin Creed series. Alamut is probably the place that veteran players of the series most want to see in the Phantom. And the trial version already has a variety of descriptions of Brotherhood colleagues at that time, and it would be great if any of the characters and events could be related to the rest of the series.
Basim's mentor does not know if he will play an important role in the later plot. unfortunately, this trial does not reveal much about the "real main line", that is, the modern line and the forerunner, which may be "hanging the appetite". After all, the protagonist Basim has a special identity, which only leaves a suspense in the Assassin's Creed: the Hall of Souls. The time point of "Phantom" is before "Hall of Souls", and I hope to see more of this story after the game is launched.
Overall, the trial experience of the Assassin Creed: Phantom is quite satisfying and makes people look forward to the official version that will eventually be launched.
