Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens, assassins for their clues delivery! CTOnews.com, September 16 (Xinhua)-- TSMC has notified major suppliers, including Dutch lithography machine maker ASML, to delay delivery of high-end chip manufacturing equipment because of growing unease about customer demand, according to Reuters.

Reuters said TSMC's move, on the one hand, is to better control costs, and on the other hand, it is more cautious about future market demand. In a subsequent reply to Reuters, TSMC said it would not comment on "market rumors".

TSMC quoted Wei Zhijia, its chief executive, as saying in July that the weak economic situation and weak demand in the end market had made customers more cautious and more focused on inventory control.

CTOnews.com note: ASML CEO Peter Wennink told Reuters last week that the company's high-end chip manufacturing equipment had been delayed, but did not name TSMC, but he thought it was just a "short-term management" issue.
