CTOnews.com September 14 news, chip design company MediaTek issued an announcement this evening, saying that its subsidiary Gaintech Co. Limited invested $25 million (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 182 million yuan) in Arm American Depositary receipts (ADSs), a chip design company owned by Softbank Corp. Group, and acquired about 0.05% of Arm. MediaTek said that the two sides are long-term partners.

On Wednesday, Arm priced its initial public offering (IPO) at $51 a share, at the top of its target price range, at which point its fully diluted market capitalization, including issued restricted shares, would exceed $54 billion. Based on a profit of $524 million in the previous fiscal year, it trades at about 104 times earnings.

It is reported that Arm's customers Apple, Nvidia and AMD have agreed to invest. In addition, the interim board of directors of TSMC, the leading foundry foundry, recently decided to subscribe for Arm common shares with a shareholding of about 0.2% within the limit of US $100 million.
