CTOnews.com, September 14, according to Automotive News, according to Experian data, Tesla leads the electric vehicle (EV) market in the United States in terms of new car registration and market share.

In the first seven months of this year, Tesla registered 390377 new cars in the United States, an increase of 50 percent over the same period last year and accounting for 59.5 percent of the US EV market. Chevrolet came in second, with nearly 40000 new registrations of electric cars between January and July, with a market share of 6 per cent. Ford ranked third, with 33955 new registrations of electric vehicles in the first seven months and a market share of 5.2 per cent. The total number of new registrations of pure electric vehicles in the above-mentioned period reached 655986, an increase of 67 per cent, accounting for 7.2 per cent of the total car market share.

CTOnews.com noted that Tesla registered 60769 new vehicles in July alone, while all other EV manufacturers combined had only 48566 new registrations in the United States. Meanwhile, according to J.D. Power, Tesla had an estimated 8.5% share of the light vehicle market in July and believes that Tesla has promoted the popularity of EV in the United States.

Tesla's most popular model is the Model Y, which registered 236041 new cars in the first seven months, more than double that of the same period last year, while the Model 3 increased 21 percent to 131381. Meanwhile, Model S and Model X fell 51 per cent and 14 per cent, to 8439 and 14462, respectively.

For its part, Ford's EV market share fell to 5.2% from 6.9%, with 33955 new cars registered in the first seven months. Of these, the Fmuri 150 Lightning pickup accounts for 11883, surpassing the 7611 of the Rivian R1T.
