CTOnews.com September 14 news, Tesla CEO Elon Musk at Wednesday's All-In Podcast 2023 summit in an interview, during which mentioned topics including FSD, Star Chain, X, China, artificial intelligence and so on.

When he referred to the FSD beta, he said it was "very close" to being safer than human drivers in unregulated conditions. In other words, he believes that FSD has surpassed human drivers in safety and can almost be "autonomous," but still needs further improvement.

"I think it's getting very close to a situation where even without human supervision or intervention, the probability of safe travel using FSD is higher than if someone is driving (for example, you fall asleep in the car), and we're very close to that," Musk said.

He also noted that the current version of FSD is a significant improvement over versions six months, a year and 18 months ago. As CTOnews.com previously reported, Musk has repeatedly stressed that the Tesla FSD v12 version will be a very big upgrade.

Musk explained that during this time Tesla has reached what it calls the "final piece of the puzzle" and that the company is making neural networks the basis of the entire FSD.

"We've solved the last puzzle, which is the transition of the control part of the car from about 300,000 lines of C++ code (across the board) to neural networks, so the whole system will be a neural network with photons going into the control output," Musk added.

In the interview, Musk also mentioned that the mileage driven with FSD is "safer than without it" and stressed how Tesla is close to "the last piece of the puzzle."

Tesla often issues periodic vehicle safety reports detailing quarterly safety findings for its Autopilot and FSD systems.

According to the latest safety report, the latest data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that Americans have an average car crash every 652,000 kilometers driven, compared with an average of 4.85 million kilometers driven by Tesla owners in the fourth quarter of last year, and 1.4 million kilometers driven by owners who do not use any assistance systems.
