Jetbrains has been supporting Rust functionality in IntelliJ IDEA and CLion as plug-ins for many years. With a strong call from users, Jetbrains will launch its own Rust IDE, claiming that the new IDE will have the same functionality as the existing JetBrains IDE.

RustRover will be available under a commercial solution, and the product will be available free of charge during EAP, with the official goal of releasing RustRover by September 2024.

However, in the future, officials will focus on closed-source RustRover, and for existing open source plug-ins, they will try their best to maintain compatibility with the new version of IDE, but will not fix bug or add new features.
