CTOnews.com Sept. 13, Microsoft confirmed that it will relax the character limit in consumer and enterprise Bing chat. The current limit is 4000 characters, but will be increased to 8000 characters in the future.

The change was announced on Twitter by Mikhail Parakhin, vice president of Microsoft search, who responded to a tweet from a user who said their company was using Bing chat Enterprise Edition, with the only drawback being character restrictions. Parakhin says the character limit will be expanded, but not soon. He explained that the algorithm that drives Bing chat is quadratic with context size, so increasing the limit to 8000 characters would quadruple the cost.

CTOnews.com noted that in addition to adding character restrictions, Microsoft has also made other improvements to Bing chat. The Bing chat plugin is now available, and the Enterprise Edition will be released as a stand-alone product at a price of $5 per user per month. Users of Microsoft Edge browser can also use the command prompt in the Bing chat sidebar to change browser settings. In addition, Bing AI chat is no longer a unique feature of Edge browsers, and users can also use it on other browsers, such as Chrome and Safari.
