Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens and former Apple users for their clue delivery! CTOnews.com Sept. 13, Apple today released the iPhone 15 series of new phones, in line with previous rumors, both phones have removed the Lightning interface and switched to the USB-C interface. This means that users can use the same cable to charge iPhone, iPad and Mac. But what Apple may not tell us is that the evidence suggests that the new iPhone 15 will provide an option to limit the maximum charge of the battery.

Based on the iOS 17 RC code discovered by 9to5mac, Apple has developed a new feature that allows users to limit the maximum charge of the battery to better protect its life. This feature has not been officially launched yet and will appear in the battery settings menu when it is launched. When this feature is turned off, users will see a message saying that iPhone "will be fully charged". When this feature is turned on, the phone will tell the user that the battery "will only be recharged to about X%".

Some Android phones, such as Samsung Galaxy, already have similar features, mainly because filling lithium-ion batteries with 100% will lead to faster battery aging, so phone manufacturers will add features to limit charging in some cases. This allows users to sacrifice some battery life to ensure that the battery can last longer.

CTOnews.com noted that many iPhone 14 Pro users complained that the phone's maximum battery capacity was declining very fast, which may have prompted Apple to provide these features to allow users to better manage their iPhone batteries.

Since iPhone 15 is not yet available, it is not certain whether this feature will be available on the first day. Considering that it is already in the code and is not available on the iPhone 14 model, guess that this new feature is only compatible with the new iPhone of the USB-C interface.

IOS 17 will be launched on September 18, and the new iPhone 15 series will be pre-ordered from 8: 00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, Beijing time, and will go on sale on Friday, September 22.
