CTOnews.com Sept. 13, TrendForce Group Consulting released a report a few days ago that the market demand for NAND Flash in the second quarter is still low, and the oversupply continues, so that the average sales unit price (ASP) of NAND Flash in the second quarter fell by 10.15%, while shipments of bits (bits) increased by 19.9% month-on-month in the low base period of the first quarter, and the total revenue of the NAND Flash industry increased by 7.4% in the second quarter. TrendForce said that Samsung has joined the ranks of production cuts since the second quarter, and is expected to expand production cuts in the third quarter. While supply is converging, price increases are also brewing, which is expected to improve the supply glut.

However, due to the large number of suppliers in the NAND Flash industry, most operators still choose to actively sell goods in the third quarter while inventories are still high. It is estimated that the decline in the average price of NAND Flash products in the third quarter will converge to 510%, while digit shipments will increase with the peak season. It is estimated that NAND Flash industry revenue will continue to increase by more than 3% in the third quarter.

▲ Touyuan TrendForce experienced the highest revenue growth in the second quarter of Micron, up 27.6% from a month earlier to $1.21 billion (currently about 8.833 billion yuan). Revenue performance is mainly from the PC, Mobile market customer inventory reduction, especially Client SSD benefited from the average carrying capacity growth, bit shipments hit a single-quarter high.

With the industry actively reducing production, Micron believes that the supply and demand situation will become healthier in the second half of the year, but in the whole year, high inventories will still suppress the recovery of the NAND Flash industry, and the whole industry is expected to maintain low supply bits of output until 2024.

Other operators, such as SK Group (SK hynix & Solidigm) and Western Digital (Western Digital), respectively, benefited from the continued decline in SSD inventory in the channel market and the increase in unit capacity in the consumer electronics market, which led to a substantial increase in bit shipments, driving up revenue in the second quarter. Among them, SK Group has the second largest revenue growth rate, with an increase of about 26.6 per cent month-on-month; Western Digital about 5.4 per cent.

Samsung, armor (Kioxia) is the only two revenue decline companies, although bit shipments have grown, but still not equal to the impact of falling average sales unit prices.

Samsung's revenue in the second quarter decreased by 1.0% from the previous quarter, or about $2.9 billion (currently about 21.17 billion yuan). Among them, the AI server that the market continues to focus on continues to reduce the shipping scale of general-purpose servers, and the revenue in the NAND Flash field has not benefited from the AI boom; the second quarter's revenue decreased by about 1.3% from the previous quarter, or about $1.83 billion (currently about 13.359 billion yuan).
