CTOnews.com, September 13 (Xinhua) Samuel Garcia (Samuel Garcia), governor of the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, said that Tesla and his suppliers would invest $15 billion (currently about 109.5 billion yuan) in Mexican superfactories in the next two years, three times the amount previously disclosed.

In March, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that Tesla would build a super factory in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, which will be used to produce Tesla's next-generation models and is an important part of the company's global expansion.

At that time, Tesla did not disclose the details of the investment in the Mexican super factory. However, Mexican officials point out that $5 billion is expected to be invested in the upcoming plant (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 36.5 billion yuan).

According to Reuters, Samuel Garcia said at the latest event that investment in Mexican superfactories has increased. "Tesla and his suppliers alone will bring $15 billion in investment over two years."

He also pointed out that the money will require Nuevo Leon to invest more money in highways and other public works projects.

Before Tesla announced the construction of a plant in Mexico earlier this year, established carmakers such as BMW, General Motors and Ford said they planned to start or strengthen production of electric vehicles in Mexico. With the addition of Tesla, Nuevo Leon may become one of the centers of the electric vehicle revolution.

It was previously reported that Tesla would start producing electric cars in the Mexican super factory in 2025. However, Tesla has not issued an official statement on the latest target timetable for the facility.
