CTOnews.com, September 12 (Xinhua)-- HMD Global has been launching Nokia-branded smartphones for the past six years. The Finnish company plans to expand its product portfolio and will launch phones with its own HMD brand.

Jean-Francois Baril, co-founder, chairman and CEO of HMD Global, made the announcement. "users can expect to see a new portfolio of HMD-branded mobile devices, as well as Nokia devices and exciting new partners," the executive said on the LinkedIn page.

Baril, which launched self-repairable Nokia devices in the past 12 months, said in a lengthy article that HMD Global was "the fastest growing 5G smartphone maker compared with the same period last year" and "a leader in sustainability".

The company is now preparing to "enter the market independently" and describes itself as "one of the largest smartphone companies in Europe" and says it will soon start providing "high-quality, reasonably priced mobile devices" to consumers around the world.

CTOnews.com did not find a specific product release schedule in the statement, but is expected to launch soon.
