Data show that in 2022, the total operating income of China's top 500 private enterprises reached 39.83 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.94 percent over the same period last year, while the total after-tax net profit in the same period was 1.64 trillion yuan, slightly lower than the same period of the previous year.

In terms of business income, JD.com Group topped the list with an income of 1.05 trillion yuan, ranking first among the top 100 private enterprises in the service industry for three years in a row, and Hengli Group ranked first among the top 500 private enterprises in the manufacturing industry for two consecutive years.

As the leader and important part of the national tax revenue, the social contribution of the top 500 private enterprises is also outstanding. In 2022, the total amount of tax paid by the top 500 private enterprises reached 125 million yuan, which was affected by the continuous increase in tax reduction and fee reduction, which decreased by 8.4% compared with the same period of the previous year, but the total tax paid by the top 500 private enterprises still accounted for 7.51% of the country's total tax revenue, almost the same as the 7.9% of the previous year.

The Internet and related service industries are the emerging science and technology industries with the highest tax contribution. Among them, Tencent once again ranked first in the tax contribution of the Internet industry with an annual tax payment of 40.6 billion yuan. Although the total net profit and operating income decreased compared with the previous year, Tencent's total tax revenue continued to grow, up 4% from the same period last year.

Data show that Tencent's cumulative tax payment exceeded 108.1 billion in three years from 2020 to 2022. In terms of tax contribution of Internet enterprises, Ant Science and Technology and Meituan followed closely, with taxes of 22.341 billion yuan and 18.5 billion yuan respectively in 2022.
