CTOnews.com, September 12 (Xinhua)-- Apple today released updates to iOS / iPadOS 15.7.9, macOS 12.6.9 and macOS 11.7.10 for users who are still running older systems, mainly fixing security vulnerabilities in ImageIO according to the official security log.

Eligible Mac devices can be updated to macOS Monterey 12.6.9 and macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 using the Software Update of system preferences, while eligible iPhone and iPad devices can be upgraded to iOS / iPadOS 15.7.9 by going to Settings > General > Software updates.

This update focuses on fixing the security vulnerability tracking number CVE-2023-41064, which CTOnews.com previously reported was used by the NSO Group Group for Pegasus monitoring software, which was exploited by attackers to create pictures containing malicious code and distribute them through PassKit attachments.

This bug fix applies to iPhone 6s (all models), iPhone 7 (all models), iPhone SE (Generation 1), iPad Air 2, iPad mini (Generation 4), and iPod touch (Generation 7).
