In terms of design, the flash drive uses a "rugged zinc shell" for IPX8 protection and is filled with special epoxy resin to protect internal components from penetration attacks.

According to the official website of Kingston, the ▲ source, the D500S will self-test at startup and shut down the hard drive when excessive temperature or voltage is detected. To reassure users, the D500S integrates digital signature firmware to protect it from BadUSB malware and brute force cracking attacks. Brute force password cracking attack protection is always enabled to prevent password guessing attacks, and if the number of invalid password retries is exceeded, the hard drive will eventually be encrypted and erased.

The ▲ image source Kingston official website D500S supports the traditional complex password or passphrase mode, allowing you to enter passwords with 8-16 characters in 3 of the 4 character sets. The passphrase length can be 10-128 characters.

In addition, the D500S includes the industry's first double-hidden partition option, where administrators can create two custom-sized secure partitions for administrators and users, allowing the use of hidden file stores and providing files to user partitions as needed. When using an untrusted system or shared hard disk, hiding the file store keeps its data secure and invisible unless properly accessed.
