CTOnews.com Sept. 11, today, China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance released monthly data on power and energy storage batteries in August 2023.

In terms of production: in August, the total output of power and energy storage batteries in China was 73.3GWh, an increase of 7.4% month-on-month and 46.8% year-on-year. Among them, the output of power batteries accounted for 87.6%. From January to August, the cumulative output of power and energy storage batteries in China was 456.2GWh, with a cumulative increase of 46.3% compared with the same period last year. Among them, the output of power batteries accounts for 92.0%.

In terms of sales: in August, the combined sales of power and energy storage batteries in China were 65.0GWh, an increase of 13.3% over the previous month. Among them, the sales of power batteries were 55.1GWh, up 3.7% from the previous month, and the sales of energy storage batteries were 9.9GWh, up 131.7% from the previous month. From January to August, the cumulative sales of power and energy storage batteries in China are 411.1GWh. Among them, the cumulative sales of power batteries are 364.9GWhh, and the sales of energy storage batteries are 46.2GWh. In August, China's exports of power and energy storage batteries totaled 12.5GWh, up 142.2 percent from the same period last year and 0.3 percent from the previous month. From January to August, China's total exports of power and energy storage batteries reached 87.9GWh, an increase of 163.2% over the same period last year.

In terms of loading capacity: in August, China's power battery load 34.9GWh, an increase of 25.7% over the same period last year, an increase of 8.2% month-on-month. Among them, ternary battery 10.8GWh accounted for 31.0% of the total installed capacity, up 2.7% from the same period last year and 2.3% from the previous year; lithium iron phosphate battery 24.1GWh accounted for 69.0% of the total installed capacity, up 39.7% from the same period last year and 11.0% from the previous year. From January to August, the cumulative installed capacity of power batteries in China was 219.2GWh, an increase of 35.3% over the same period last year. Among them, the cumulative loading of ternary batteries 69.4GWh, accounting for 31.6% of the total installed capacity, an increase of 5.2% over the same period last year; the cumulative loading of lithium iron phosphate batteries 149.6GWh, accounting for 68.3% of the total installed capacity, with a cumulative increase of 56.0% over the same period last year. In August, a total of 33 power battery enterprises were installed in China's new energy vehicle market, 4 fewer than the same period last year. The power battery loads of the top 3, top 5 and top 10 power battery companies are 28.2GWh, 30.7GWh and 34.0GWh respectively, accounting for 80.9%, 88.0% and 97.5% of the total installed capacity, respectively. From January to August, a total of 48 power battery enterprises in China's new energy vehicle market were installed, an increase of one over the same period last year. The top 3, top 5 and top 10 power battery enterprises installed 178.3GWh, 196.0GWh and 213.7GWh respectively, accounting for 81.3%, 89.4% and 97.5% of the total installed capacity, respectively.
