CTOnews.com Earlier this year, Vietnamese automaker VinFast said it would delay the start of operations of its electric vehicle plant in the United States until 2025, citing "procedural delays."

The U.S. government issued a statement confirming that Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is continuing to advance its work on a $4 billion (CTOnews.com note: currently about 29.44 billion yuan) electric vehicle production facility in North Carolina.

Last March, the Vingroup JSC subsidiary announced it would build a $4 billion electric vehicle plant on 712 hectares of land in Chatham County, North Carolina, near Charlotte, initially scheduled to open in July 2024, and expected to create more than 7000 jobs and produce 150,000 vehicles annually.

In addition to the construction of electric vehicle production facilities, 3M also revealed in the statement that it has reached an agreement with Vietnam's Ministry of Transport to improve traffic safety. Under the agreement, 3M will provide a range of technical solutions to help Vietnam's Ministry of Transport improve road safety.

Nobu Hospitality, a New York-based hotel group, also announced in a statement that it will partner with Vietnamese real estate company Viet Capital Real Estate to open Nobu hotels, residences and restaurants for the first time in Vietnam. This cooperation will bring new development opportunities to Vietnam's tourism industry and further promote the prosperity and development of Vietnam's tourism industry.

Last year VinFast applied to list on NASDAQ to raise money for its plant construction. VinFast began selling cars outside Vietnam for the first time last week, delivering its first 45 vehicles in California on its first day.

Its revenue in 2022 was 14.9 trillion VND (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 4.366 billion yuan), down about 6.9% from 2021. The company's latest prospectus showed a net loss of 55 percent, up from VND32.2 trillion to VND49.8 trillion.
