CTOnews.com, September 11, according to the Wall Street Journal, Meta has been snapping up the artificial intelligence training chip Nvidia H100 and building a data center, and plans to develop a new artificial intelligence system (large language model) in early 2024, which will be as powerful as OpenAI's GPT-4.

CTOnews.com learned from the Wall Street Journal that the model will be several times more powerful than the commercial version of Llama 2. The planned model (details may change) will help other companies build services that produce complex text, analysis, and other output.

CTOnews.com Note: Llama 2 is an open source AI language model launched by Meta in July and distributed by Microsoft's cloud Azure service to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard.

Meta reportedly formed a team to build the model earlier this year, with the goal of speeding up the creation of AI tools that mimic human expressions.
