CTOnews.com, September 10 (Xinhua) biographer Walter Isaacson (Walter Isaacson) shares new details about Tesla's next-generation electric vehicle platform in an excerpt from his book about Elon Musk.

Isaacson details some of Musk's documented information, such as his vision for the next-generation electric vehicle (EV) platform.

Although Tesla announced earlier this year that he would consider building a next-generation electric vehicle platform in an unbuilt Mexican superfactory, Isaacson said Musk had changed the original construction site of the Robotaxi platform to an Austin superfactory.

"Tesla's project needs to be online to be successful, and it is never possible for everyone to move to Mexico," Musk said.

Tesla is supposed to produce a new generation of models in the future Mexican superfactory, but design engineers will achieve a desire to get close to the assembly process at the Austin superfactory, so that engineers can get feedback immediately without having to move to Mexico.

Earlier this year, Samuel Garc í a Sep ú lveda, governor of the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, said the carmaker would set up a production line outside Monterey to produce Tesla's $25000 compact car. (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 184000 yuan).

According to another Isaacson report, Tesla's upcoming Robotaxi EV platform is expected to be inspired by Cybertruck and share the same architectural design as previously rumored $25000 models.

He believes that the two electric cars are expected to use similar designs and may even use the same assembly line. According to Tesla's vision, a key difference between the two electric cars is that the Robotaxi may not necessarily include a steering wheel, while passenger cars must have a steering wheel.

Isaacson also shared details of an electric vehicle design review conference held in February, when Tesla's chief designer Franz von Holzhausen presented the design of a $25000 model and Robotaxi design, which received an enthusiastic response from Musk.

"when one of the cars drives around the corner, people think they are seeing something from the future," Musk said at the meeting.

Isaacson points out that Musk is far more enthusiastic about the Robotaxi project than the $25000 model, and that he is looking forward to redefining traffic with self-driving models.
