Retail sales of generalized passenger cars in August were 1.938 million, up 2.2% from the same period last year and 8.5% from the previous month. From January to August, retail sales in the broad passenger car market totaled 13.378 million, an increase of 1.8 per cent over the same period last year.

The domestic retail penetration rate of new energy vehicles in August was 37.3%, up 9 percentage points from 28.4% in the same period last year. In August, the retail share of mainstream independent brands of new energy vehicles was 70%, down 0.2% from the same period last year; the share of joint venture brand new energy vehicles was 5.2%, down 0.8% from the same period last year; the share of new power was 13.8%, down 1.2% from the same period last year; and Tesla's share was 9%, an increase of 3.0% over the same period last year.
