CTOnews.com September 8 news, according to Huirong news, Huirong made a keynote speech at the FMW 2023   flash summit. Liu Yaoren, Huirong technology product planning manager, said in his speech that notebook manufacturers are expected to introduce PCIe Gen5 SSD products one after another by the end of 2024.

As previously reported by IT House, Huirong recently demonstrated the latest PCIe 5.0SSD master SM2508, which is suitable for notebook computers, desktops and workstations, supporting eight NAND channels with speeds up to 3600 MT/s each, providing sequential read and write speeds up to 14GB/s and random read and write speeds of 2.5 million IOPS. Huirong said that SM2508 with ~ 3.5W ultra-low power performance, released the extreme potential of PCIe Gen5 performance, suitable for a wider range of notebook computer applications.

Huirong has now confirmed that SM2508 also uses the more advanced TSMC 6nm process, built-in dual-core Cortex R8 processors, supports symmetric multiprocessing technology (SMP), and is able to independently balance the workload of multi-core processors. The Cortex R8 processor uses pipelined out-of-order execution, allowing the processor to execute instructions based on input data and available execution units without having to wait for the completion of the previous instruction. This approach enables the processor to make more efficient use of resources, improve execution efficiency, and reduce idle time.
