Typing the keyword "extended dock" in the e-commerce platform shows that the product price ranges from tens of yuan to hundreds of yuan, and the price of some high-performance lightning docks may also reach thousands of yuan.

From the consumer's point of view, apart from the price, the core consideration of choosing a dock is nothing more than the number of interfaces and interface specifications. The number of interfaces should be enough, and the interface specifications should meet the needs, which is a priority for most users who choose to buy docks. In addition, areas such as heat dissipation capacity, work texture and after-sales service also need to be paid attention to.

In addition to the above-mentioned aspects, there is an obscure but significant design of the dock, which is the signal shielding design. This design will be directly related to the normal use of the external equipment connected to the expansion dock. However, whether it is the publicity on the manufacturer side or the experience on the user side, the signal shielding design of the product is rarely mentioned. The main reason is that not all extension dock products adopt a perfect signal shielding design; for users, the signal shielding design of extension dock is also a place where the perception is not obvious.

Why is the signal shielding design of the expansion dock important? Here we simply popularize one of the important product indicators of the dock-EMC (electromagnetic compatibility), which refers to the ability of electronic products or electrical equipment to work normally according to the design requirements in the prescribed electromagnetic environment. To put it simply, if the EMC capability of the dock is not good, then there may be devices connected to the dock that cannot be used normally, such as slow drag of the wireless mouse cursor, disconnection of Bluetooth devices, and sometimes affect the Wi-Fi network of notebook computers, resulting in network disconnection.

The main reason is that the signals interfere with each other in the use of several devices in the 2.4G frequency band. Like the wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, Bluetooth headset and Bluetooth handle we usually use, the 2.4G signal band is basically used. Similar devices also include notebook network cards, Wi-Fi routers and so on. Therefore, signal interference is almost inevitable, and the purchase of equipment with good shielding capability can significantly improve this problem.

For the case that the expansion dock is disturbed by external signals, the common practice of the expansion dock products is to add a shield. Obviously, for mass consumers, little attention is paid to the signal shielding effect of the expansion dock.
