CTOnews.com September 7 news, Subaru today launched a new model in Japan, called Levorg Layback. Levorg is an Impreza-based station wagon, and the official Levorg Layback is an SUV version of Levorg, but in fact the car is essentially Levorg with a higher chassis and greater off-road capability.

The Levorg Layback looks similar to the regular Levorg, but adds plastic wrap and 18-inch wheels. Its length, width and height are also increased by 15 mm, 25 mm and 70 mm respectively compared with the normal version, and the ground clearance is increased by 55 mm to reach 200 mm. The luggage volume remains unchanged.

Levorg Layback is equipped with a turbocharged 1.8T horizontally opposed engine with a maximum power of 174 hp and a maximum torque of 300 N·m, equipped with a CVT gearbox and Subaru's signature symmetrical all-wheel drive system, as well as a next-generation EyeSight system, including a wide-angle camera, Harman Kardon audio, 11.6-inch center screen and 12.3-inch digital dashboard. In addition, the owner can also remotely control the air conditioner through the mobile phone application to adjust the temperature inside the car in advance.

CTOnews.com notes that Levorg Layback is currently only available in Japan, and it is unclear whether it will be introduced in other markets. Subaru also sells Levorg STI Sport versions in Japan, with a sportier package. Earlier this year, Subaru also launched a special edition of STI Sport Performance, limited to 500 units, equipped with 19-inch BBS forged wheels, gearbox oil coolers, transverse support rods, elastic tie rods and other components.
