CTOnews.com Sept. 7, shortly after the launch of the Volkswagen ID.GTI concept car at the Munich auto show, overseas media motor1 took a set of test spy photos of the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX, and the new car is scheduled to be released in 2024.

From the outside, the black prototype car is not much different from the ordinary ID.3. But if you look closely, you will find that there are some changes in details. For example, the side skirt board has some prominent parts that make the car look lower and shorter. The front bumper also has a new design, using the same mesh pattern as the ID.4 and ID.5 GTX. The rear bumper also has some gray stickers that hide some details, and it is speculated that there may also be more mesh elements here.

There is no exact information about the powertrain, but it is speculated that the ID.3 GTX will use a dual-motor all-wheel drive with an output power of about 300hp, consistent with the ID.4 and ID.5 GTX. The ID.3 GTX may use a 77-kilowatt-hour battery pack with a range of 310 miles on WLTP (CTOnews.com Note: about 498.9 km).

The exposure comes just after the launch of the ID. GTI concept car, which showcases Volkswagen's future electric hot hatchback, which is expected to go into production in 2026, but unlike the ID.3 GTX, it is likely to use a single-motor front-drive layout. As a result, Volkswagen will have two different styles of electric high-performance hatchbacks, and the ID.3 GTX will be available first.
